76 Indians barred from entering Britain

n the two weeks following the introduction of new UK immigration rules, 76 visa applicants in India were barred from entering Britain.

The new rules that came into force on April 1, prevent people who have previously broken the UK's immigration laws from coming to the UK for a fixed period.

Entering the UK illegally, working illegally, staying beyond the duration of visa or using deception in a visa application are acts considered as violation of the new immigration rules.

If applicants use deception when applying for a visa, including submitting false documents, they face the prospect of all future UK visa applications being automatically refused for ten years.

In its largest visa operation, the UK processes around 450,000 applications annually in India.
